This week has been a very different sort of week, with transfers, going to a new area with a new companion, and getting to know the people in this part of the mission , luckily however I am in the same zone so that did not change.
Now onto the week.
February 7, 2017: We had transfers. We, being Elder H and I arrived at the mission office at 9:00 and hung out for a while before Elder J and him left to return to Fort Morgan. Once that happened Elders A, E, T, S, and I went to the mission home to pick up keys to one of the transfer vans. Once we got those keys Elder T and all those who wer going up to Wyoming that did not go in the transfer van left. Then Elder Aguirre decided to instead of hanging out with me and Elder S, my new companion, he would wait at the mission office for his new companion. So we left to go to the apartment where I unpacked. Then we went shopping which was good. Following that we went to Cafe Mexicali to have dinner with the Zone Leaders Elder A and Elder M. They are both really cool though Elder M is a bit rough at first he is a really good guy and very exactly obedient. Then we had a lesson with the Young men of the branch which was really cool, luckily though it was not in español
Spiritual: While it was hard saying goodbye to my first area I know this next transfer will be amazing and help me increase mi español mucho.
February 8, 2017: The first full day in the new area and it was kinda weird. After studies we went to ARC a thrift store that loves having us as volunteers. That was good. Following that we went through potentials and less actives and tried to contact them to limited success. Then we had dinner with the ward mission leader Hermano H and his family along with the Hermanas in the branch. That was lots of fun. Following that we tried to contact the rest of the less actives and recent converts but still to no success.
Spiritual: If at first you don't succeed try and try some more.
February 9, 2017: We had the first district meeting of the transfer and Elder S was kinda upset at the fact that there are only two other companionships in our district which are the Zone Leaders and Sisters P and C. The other thing that is weird is that the Hermanas in our branch are not in our district, which is kinda annoying but whatever. So district meeting was amazing and was over rather quickly. Afterwards we did Arc for awhile. Then we went and sent texts to all our investigators whose numbers we have and did not have success sadly.
Spiritual: Sometimes things happen that do not make sense but remember god is the one in charge.
February 10, 2017: We had service at a place called the global refugee center where we handed out food. The sisters in our district were also there which was fun. After that we did studies before we did weekly planning which was good. Following that We tried some people in our lists to limited success. Then we had dinner with the Branch Mission leader's parents which was fun. Following that we had a lesson with a less active which was good.
Spiritual: Plan put your week and it will help things go smoother
February 11, 2017: We had Arc which was good. Then we decided to create pass along cards with our number and libros with our number and the steps of prayer. After about three libros I had the idea that instead of writing them down that we should type them up and then put them in so we did that. Following that we had dinner before going and trying people also to no success.
Spiritual: Take advantage of the gifts we have been given as they were given to us for a wise purpose.
February 12, 2017: We had branch council which was good. After that we set up the sacrament before we prepared to bless the sacrament. Church was really good though I only understood about half of what was said. After church we had mission coordination meeting at the mission leader's home. During that he was saying that he wants us to get to know the branch President better and so he will set up a time we can go to his house, but his wife was adamant we don't because of the branch President having a newborn, so I suggested that since the branch President owns Cafe Mexicali that Hermano H (the mission leader) set up a time that the branch President meets and ears with us there so we can still get to know him better but not be in his house where it might be harder which was an idea they both liked. After the meeting we tried some people and had no success, then we had dinner before going back out and doing the same thing still with no success.
Spiritual: Try when possible to come up with a better solution to make everyone happy.
God be with you till we meet again
Elder Joshua Patterson
I asked him how his Spanish was coming along since he did not use it a lot in Fort Morgan and he said it is coming along okay and that most of the members of his branch speak English but prefer Spanish
He also said it is very warm up their right now.
